Victor Alcántara (*1975) received his PhD in musicology from the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz with a thesis on the mirror symmetry of the piano keyboard. He also completed artistic studies in piano, jazz piano and film music at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich. His piano concerto “Toccata Concertante” was awarded third prize at the II International Uuno Klami Composition Competition in Finland in 2009. As a film composer, he wrote the music for the film “La Mer” starring Franka Potente (“The Bourne Identity”). He has performed as a solo pianist at the Montreux Jazz Festival and lectured at international scientific conferences, such as the Moscow State Conservatory and the Georg August University in Göttingen. As a piano pedagogue, his main focus is on education at universities of music (Munich and Bayreuth). This is additionally enhanced by his teaching experience regarding music schools, Workshops as well as private lessons.
