Description

Samson’s Dream refers to the romance of Samson & Delilah (Judges 16:4).
The piece for big band (grade 3) is written in 5/4 time. It begins with a strong opening that is repeated in the middle of the composition as well as at the end, each time decreasing in intensity, symbolizing the approaching loss of Samson’s power.
There are no doublings in the instrumentation: 2x alto saxophone, 2x tenor saxophone, 1x baritone saxophone, 4x trumpet, 4x trombone, guitar, drums, piano, bass. The solo part is intended for the 1st alto saxophone, 1st trombone, guitar or piano.
