Description
Summer of St. Martin refers on the one hand to an unusually warm period of weather in late autumn, especially at the beginning of November. On the other hand, it is a reference to St. Martin, who is credited above all with mercy and warmth towards his fellow human beings.
The piece for Bigband (Grade 3-4) changes from a lyrical beginning to a short vamp, which is repeated after a contrasting middle section and the recurring main theme set as the climax.
The solo part is scored for either alto saxophone 1 or tenor saxophone 1, the corresponding scales are indicated. There are no doublings in the instrumentation: 2x alto sax, 2x tenor sax, 1x baritone sax, 4x trumpet, 4x trombone, guitar, drums, piano, bass.
