Description

Jacob’s Ladder refers to Jacob’s dream of a ladder reaching to heaven (Gen. 28:12).
The piece for big band (grade 3) begins with a calm piano intro, which is followed by a 3-note motif that is played by various instruments like a call. The movement gradually intensifies and culminates in a section that depicts the ascent and descent of the ladder.
An optional, notated piano solo is included with the piano part. The instrumentation has no doublings: 2x alto sax, 2x tenor sax, 1x baritone sax, 4x trumpet, 4x trombone, guitar, drums, piano, bass.
